NCAA National Champions
The 2016 college soccer season is finished and only one team in each division is fortunate enough to call themselves the 2016 national champions.

NCAA DIVISION I

The state of California took home both the men’s and women’s Division I national championships as the Stanford Cardinals won the men’s College Cup and the University of Southern California won the women’s.

The Trojans took home their second national championship with a 3-1 victory over West Virginia.

WOMENS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

On Sunday December 4th University of Southern California took down West Virginia in the women’s College Cup. The Number 7 Trojans surprised many people by upsetting West Virginia, a top ranked team who won 23 games this season. Despite West Virginia outshooting USC 21-8 the Mountaineers could not answer two goals by Katie Johnson in the final 16 minutes of play. The Trojans took home their second national championship with a 3-1 victory over West Virginia.

After 110 minutes without a goal Stanford closed out the game 5-4 in penalty kicks.

MENS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Stanford faced Wake Forest in the men’s College Cup final as they sought their second straight National Championship. After 110 minutes without a goal Stanford closed out the game 5-4 in penalty kicks. Stanford became the first team since Wisconsin in 1995 to not allow a single goal in the tournament and end with a national championship.
