Easter and season opener

With this Newsletter CMG will take the opportunity to wish you all a Happy Easter Weekend. We would also like to update you about the current situation in the different leagues around Europe where CMG works at the moment.

The Swedish top league Damallsvenskan has its season openers with five games tomorrow Easter Sunday and one game on Easter Monday. As last year FC Rosengård and Linköping FC are favorites to win the title. The second league in Sweden, Elitettan started with three games last Thursday and the last game in the first round will be played on Monday. In Elitettan Växjö DFF from south of Sweden is a favorite to win the league.

Even the Norwegian top league, Toppserien, starts this weekend with all full round on Easter Monday. LSK Kvinner, Avaldsnes, Stabæk and Kolbotn are the teams that will fight about the title even this season.

The Danish League, Elitedivisionen, has started its “playoff league” and it will go on until mid-June. As the last years, Brøndby and Fortuna Hjørring are the favorites to become Danish champions.

The English FA WSL will go from being a summer league to become a winter league and therefore the teams will play Spring Series from April 22nd to the beginning of June. The new version of the league will start in the fall 2017.

On Iceland the league, Úrvalsdeild, starts April 27nd and the expected league winner is Stjarnan who won the championship last season.

The French league, D1 feminine, has one and a half month left and Olympique Lyonnais is going towards the title even this year. The second UWCL spot for France is still open between Montpellier and PSG.

In Germany the league, Frauen Bundesliga, ends in the end of May and it will be a tough fight between the three top teams Wolfsburg, Turbine Potsdam and Bayern München.

Ronja Aronsson joins CMG

CMG is excited to announce the signing of Swedish U23 national team defender Ronja Aronsson. Ronja was born in 1997 and started her senior career at Piteå IF, where she debuted at the age of 13, making her the second-youngest Damallsvenskan player of all time. read more

CMG is excited to announce the signing of Norwegian national team midfielder Ingrid Schjelderup. Ingrid was born in 1987 and started her senior career at Kolbotn and has then been playing with Linköpings FC in Sweden and Vålerenga and Stabæk in Norway. read more

American Carly Gould has signed for Hovås Billdal IF

CMG is glad to announce that American attacking midfielder Carly Gould has signed for Hovås Billdal IF in Elitettan, Sweden. Carly has been practicing lately with the Boston Breakers reserve team. She graduated from Brown University in the U.S where she played NCAA Division 1 soccer. read more

College Fall Sports

Just like that summer is ending and the fall sports season has begun. At CMG we are excited to follow all of our professional athletes as well as our college athletes that are starting their sports seasons. During the fall, college sports in the US include men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, men’s water polo, field hockey, and American football. read more

Nigerian player Ebere Orij has signed for Umeå IK

CMG is excited to announce that Nigerian midfielder/FW Ebere Orij has signed for Umeå IK in Elitettan, Sweden. Ebere has lately been playing with the Hungarian champions Ferencvaros. She has played 60 caps for the Nigerian national team. read more
