Prior to becoming a professional soccer player, I attended Marquette University where I studied at The College of Business Administration and graduated in 09′ with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Finance. In addition to a world class education, Marquette gave me a tremendous platform to showcase my talent on the soccer field while competing in one of the top college soccer conferences in the country (The BIG EAST Conference). The facilities and the coaching that I received are on par (and sometimes better) than any I’ve had as a professional.

Attending college was one of the best experiences of my life. I made several lifelong friends and got to travel all across the country where I explored new cultures and cities all while getting to do the thing I loved the most, playing soccer.

Currently, as a professional with Helsingborgs IF, I can confidently say that without Marquette University and the astounding opportunities it provided me I wouldn’t be where I am today.

There are so many reasons why I love college athletics. I grew up in the US in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where the town revolves around the University of North Carolina athletics teams. All my life I idolized college athletes and knew when the time came I wanted to be one of them. I was fortunate enough to earn an athletic scholarship and play volleyball for Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.

The four years I spent playing college volleyball were some of the best years of my life. Playing volleyball gave me the chance to travel all across the US while studying and forming lifelong friendships. I met so many amazing people from all over the world, including my Swedish fiancé who played on the Mercer University soccer team.

After my playing career was over, I wanted to continue to be involved in college athletics. I began coaching at a Division 3 college in Maryland and later became the Director of Volleyball Operations for a Division 1 program in North Carolina. While working in college athletics I was able to receive a full scholarship for my graduate studies and earn a master’s degree in Athletic Administration. From my experiences at a variety of levels I’ve seen what a fantastic opportunity playing a college sport can be and would love to share that experience with as many student athletes as possible.
