There are over 1200 institutions competing in tennis across the United States. Men and women have the opportunity to play tennis at NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA schools. There are over 15,000 varsity student athletes currently competing in tennis in the US. Most tennis teams have domestic players as well as international players from all over the world.
Professional tennis can be extremely difficult to get into and college tennis can be a much more viable option for many athletes. College tennis gives players the opportunity to develop their talents while getting an education. Many college tennis players go on to play professionally and famous players such as John Isner began their career by competing in college athletics.
