Fall college sports are in full swing and are now getting into the second half of conference season. Most teams have the goal of making the post season tournaments and competing for an NCAA national championship.

They can do this in a few different ways:

1) Win their conference tournament

2) Win their conference or place high enough to get an at large bid

3) Get an at large bid

Each conference is different and the conference determines how teams qualify for the NCAA tournament. If they have a conference tournament the winner of the conference tournament automatically earns a bid to the NCAA tournament. If they don’t have a conference tournament, then the top team from that conference gets a bid. Teams can also qualify for “at large” bids where a panel selects teams that have performed well all season and that they think deserve to be in the tournament. As of now here are the top 25 rankings in NCAA Division 1 for women’s volleyball as well as men’s and women’s soccer.

There are around 1200 men’s soccer teams and 1400 women’s soccer teams spread out across schools all over the United States.
