Founder & Chairman
Lars Thorén, experienced businessman with more than 25 years in the banking industry – including 12 years in a Swiss private banking group – with positions such as CEO, Deputy CEO, CFO and Compliance Officer.
Today he is the Chairman in a number of companies in various industries, both entrepreneurial as well as established companies. He also works with investments through a family-owned business. Thorén worked within sports for more then eight years in the beginning of his career, responsible for planning, management and development within sports organizations as well as head of business operations for a group of sporting associations. He was also active mainly in football and handball for several years and has 20 years of coaching experience with youth elite football teams.
CEO & Director of Hockey
Ottosson serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Hockey for CMG. As CEO he is responsible for the company’s worldwide operations, including business and geographic integration of the company’s divisions, company-wide efficiency and communication efforts. Ottosson will continue to serve in his role as Director of Hockey with responsibilities such as mentoring CMG´s hockey clients.
He has extensive experience as a former professional hockey player including 2 Swedish National Championship and 1 World Championship Bronze medal. He represented the Swedish Hockey national team at 50 occasions and played 763 games for Djurgården IF in Sweden´s top professional league.
After retiring Mr. Ottosson has embarked on an entrepreneurial path as the expert kommentator for Radiosporten and franchise owner of fitness and network concept Hockey Academy.
Karlsson serves as Manager of Women’s Football for CMG and is the contact for the players and the clubs within women’s football. She has more than 15 years of experience as a professional football player in four different countries. In Sweden, Karlsson represented clubs such as Göteborg FC and Linköping FC where she won the Swedish League, Cup and Super Cup. Karlsson became the first Swede to play in the FA WSL in England when she signed for Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2011. She has played three and a half years in Serie A in Italy and her last season for A.S. Saint Etienne in France. Karlsson has played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League four times.
She holds a bachelors degree in Sport Science from Gothenburg University and holds presentations for athletes at all levels about the development within women’s football, nutrition and wellness. In addition to her role with CMG Karlsson is an entrepreneur in the wine business with her own company MJK. Karlsson speaks multiple languages including Swedish, English, Italian and French.
College Program & Business Manager
Harris comes to CMG from the United States where she worked in various roles in the world of college athletics. Harris will work in all areas of CMG primarily focusing on the College Placement Program and business administration.
Most recently, Harris served as the Director of Volleyball Operations for NC State University. In her role as Director of Operations, Harris was heavily involved with all aspects of the program including recruiting, travel, scouting, and social media. Prior to her time at NC State, Harris was the assistant volleyball coach and recruiting coordinator at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. Harris played Division 1 College Volleyball for Mercer University from 2008-2012.
Harris holds a Masters degree in Athletic Administration from Goucher College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mercer University.
With several years of experience within the sports industry El-Ahmad has played a significant role in the founding and development of Connect Management Group. He has worked in sports in several different capacities, serving as a coach, scout, professional player, entrepreneur, and marketing director for prominent establishments such as Djurgården IF, Linköping FC, and Sirius Fotboll. Most recently El-Ahmad has taken on the role of North America & CONCACAF scouting manager for City football group based in New York.
El-Ahmad holds a bachelor’s degree and MBA in business economics, marketing and international business from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He also serves on the board of directors for GIVT supporting charitable organizations through an IT platform.
Creative & Brand Director
Söberg is a current Swedish National Team and a KIF Örebro player. Söberg joins the CMG team both as a client and as the Creative & Brand Director.
She has a higher education in Graphic Media Production and a specialization in Brand Identity and Art Direction from Bergh’s School of Communication. After many years of work experience at several advertising agencies, she now runs her own business, CASO.
Söberg is in charge of the brand strategy and visual approach, determining the best ways to communicate CMG, as well as internal and external clients.
Founder & Advisor
A successful entrepreneur as well as one of Sweden’s top sports profile with more than 35 years as manager, general manager in football, hockey and bandy.
Mr. Carlsson holds an impressive pedigree with 4 national Hockey Championships, European Championship, national team coach for Swedish Junior hockey team, assistant manager for Swedish first hockey national team, TV and radio hockey analysis, the founder of 1-3-1 hockey system along with 2 seasons as manager in Switzerland. In football Mr. Carlsson was the GM for Djurgården IF winning Superettan, Allsvenskan, Swedish Cup and responsible for some of Sweden’s top transfers.
Mr. Carlsson is responsible for the growth of CMG´s hockey division as well as leadership and mentor program for CMG clients.
Founder & Business Developer
Lars Johannesson, successful entrepreneur with 40 years experience in the construction industry.
Johannesson is also a venture investor and has thorough experience from the securities market. He has a background as both player and coach in football.
Through passion for sports, entrepreneurship and investments Johannesson provides a strong contribution to the development of CMG.
Serves as a College Adviser with responsibilities such as networking, recruiting and mentoring CMG’s clients.
He’s a current professional footballer with Helsingborgs IF in the Swedish Allsvenskan, having also spent time with Ängelholms FF and the Portland Timbers. Prior to becoming a professional Pyzdrowski starred on the Men’s Soccer Team at Marquette University from 2006-2009.
While at Marquette he studied at The College of Business Administration and graduated in 09′ with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Finance.
